About Formigo

Formigo is a white wine produced by the winery Adega Manuel Formigo in Beade, D.O.Ribeiro.

Manuel Formigo started to produce his own wines in the winery located in the basement of the old family house. Currently, he makes wine in the winery built next to the 4-hectare vineyard, Finca Teira, which became “bodega de colleteiro”.

Manuel Formigo only cultivates his own farms so that he can control the whole process. His vineyards are planted with local varieties, located mainly on granitic soils, loose and well oxygenated. The vines' ages range from 20 to 35-40 years.

The aim of Manuel Formigo is to cultivate in a sustainable way, respecting the environment and seeking the maximum expression of the local varieties, to create unique wines, capable of transmitting all the character of his farms, as well as their freshness, complexity, balance and elegance.

Formigo is a wine made from Albariño, Loureira Blanca, Godello, Torrontés, Treixadura and Palomino. This wine is made from the pressed most of the grapes that are saved for the best wines of the winery.

Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel deposits at a controlled temperature, 16ºC, for 14 days. It does not go through malolactic fermentation.

2023

Formigo 2023 is a white wine that encapsulates the essence of youth and freshness. On the nose, it unfurls a spectrum of aromas reminiscent of crisp green apples and pears, interwoven with delicate floral nuances that conjure images of springtime. The palate experiences a light and invigorating touch, with a zestfulness that enlivens the senses. A distinctive saline note emerges, adding an intriguing dimension and defining its pristine character. This wine is an ode to elegant simplicity and vibrant terroir.

Formigo 2021 is a light, fresh and aromatic wine. Very fruity on the nose, flowery and easy to drink.
2017 Formigo 2017 is a fresh and dry white wine. This wine made with different white grapes from the area offers us floral and white fruit notes on the nose. In the mouth, it is fresh, austere and saline. A good wine to get to know the true profile of the wines from the Ribeiro area.
