Fedellos do Couto Bastarda 2023 is a light wine with a fluid character. On the nose, one detects aromas of fresh red fruits such as raspberries and cherries, complemented by a subtle hint of spices. About Fedellos do Couto Bastarda

Fedellos do Couto Bastarda is a red wine produced in D.O. Ribeira Sacra by Fedellos do Couto in O couto, Ourense. 

The philosophy of these Fedellos (a Galician word meaning lively) is to respect the rural environment and traditional agriculture, therefore these four young wine-makers decided to found this winery in 2013 in Ribeira Sacra, a magnificent setting. They cultivate 4 hectares of native grape varieties between the Valle do Bibei and the Sil River, and also collaborate with other wine-makers in the area. They grow their vines organically, introducing biodynamic principles.

Fedellos do Couto Bastarda comes from Merenzado vines, about 15-70 years old, and planted on slate soils. Fermentation is carried out with the entire grapes (without destemming them) in stainless steel tanks with their own yeasts and a very gentle maceration. The wine is then decanted into French oak barrels where it stays for 12 months. 

Fedellos do Couto Bastarda is an elegant and subtle wine, with a perfect symbiosis between lightness and depth.
