About Andrew Will Champoux Vineyard

Andrew Will Champoux Vineyard is a red wine coupage of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot varieties made by the Andrew Will winery in Vashon, Washington, United States.

 

The grapes used to make the Andrew Will Champoux Vineyard wine come from the Champoux vineyard lying 5 miles from the Columbia River in Horse Heaven Hills, Washington with sand and clay soils. The harvest is carried out manually and fermentation takes place in stainless steel. The resulting wine is aged for 18 to 20 months, depending on the vintage. It is aged in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new.

 

Paul Champoux, who the vineyard is named after, retired as owner and manager in 2014. This plot has around 70 hectares that were first planted in 1972 and these vines produce wines with remarkable tannins. The area is set apart from other parts of Washington by the wind from the Columbia River Gorge that never seems to stop.
